Everyone should have a few things they call beautiful.
Simple Beauty – A Manifestation of Deeper Things
As a child, a stay at my grandmother’s house involved lying your head down on a crisp pillowcase, embroidered with flower petals and trailing, curling vines on its borders. She owned and operated a hotel in a railroad town. Many railroaders – rough, dog-tired men, traveling weeks at a time – chose hers as their favorite hotel. Likely, for her warm kindness, smile, the cleanliness of her rooms, and her flower-covered sheets.
What a blessing when we can generate a spirit of celebration and enthusiasm and invite people to participate in that feeling with something as simple as flower-covered sheets.
Beauty at home isn’t about putting on a display as much as it is touching the soul. Recognizing beauty in even small amounts in our homes causes us to pull into ourselves and experience joy. Egocentrism shrinks. The unconscious rejoices.
