Traditional Design for Modern Times

When folds of drapery fabric fall in orderly fashion – like a room lined with classic pillars, it brings me joy.

There is no match for the feeling of an interior done well that’s been inspired by classic design.

How do you experience historic architecture? If you are like me, your spirit leaps a bit when you view classic architecture. Whether in its purest form or paired with the sleek lines of modern design, there’s no question that something about its presence brings depth .

Traditional elements lift spirits.  The nature of curves gently propel your eye forward. Stone etched acanthus leaves, scalloped edges, dentil trims - all reveal evidence of an unrushed artisan. Truly captivating.

There is time honored beauty in proportion, scale, movement, color, symmetry and harmony.  It’s pure joy bringing these foundational elements into play in home interior design. Whether it’s finding furniture with lines and shape to define the mood of the space, selecting shades and tints of color to unify a room, or creating repetition in materials to make the most impact (as in the photo below) - fundamentals like these make homes special.
